Utilizes elders and traditional teachers to teach indigenous leadership, philosophy, agriculture, family healing, health and nutrition in community workshops, gatherings, and collective work (tequios).
Ceremony, Talking Circles, and Danza also offer the community an opportunity to participate in activities that foster our spiritual connection to each other and Mother Earth.

It has come to the attention of the world that the Mayan Long Count is ending in 2012. But what does this really mean?
A series of workshop based on the Tonalmachiotl, also
known as the Aztec Calendar,
or Sun Stone.

The Sun Stone integrates the long count and the short count. It is a calendar system that serves as a useful tool in interpreting our relationship with the world and the meaning of 2012. Topics covered in clude the Tonalpoualli or 20 day count and 20 day signs, the Xiuhpohualli or solar year and the Mexica or Aztec naming process, as well as its function in agriculture, birthing, and in everyday life.

OUR TEACHER: Mapitzmitl Xiuhkwetzpaltzin was raised in a traditional environment. An activist for many years, he has dedicated his life to Indigenous rights and culture and has traveled the world extensively, presenting lectures and workshops on a wide variety of subjects. Mapitzmitl is a member of the Red Tradition (Chichilmecayotl), which is the ceremonial and dance tradition of the Mexica (Me-shee-ka), or Aztec nation. He is also a Tonalpoqui or 'keeper of destinies'. He sits on the board of three non-profit organizations which are involved with Native traditions, language, and culture worldwide. His self-stated mission is "To facilitate the understanding that we are many cultures but only one race-the human race".
