Apprenticeship Program
Cihuapahtli (Women’s Medicine) Apprenticeship Program The Apprenticeship Program is a collaborative project with Young Women United, an Albuquerque based organization created by young women of color focused on changing the relations of power in Albuquerque by taking action to reduce the violence, improve the health, and build the power of women and their communities. The primary purpose of the project is to create an inter-generational apprenticeship model for young women, ages 15-35, to broaden and expand the collective of learners and teachers known as Promotoras Tradicionales. The apprenticeship program is a strategy to utilize community assets to provide continuity to the Promotoras Tradicionales Project, as well as empower young women in the community to take leadership in providing healthcare for themselves, their families, and the community. The approach to the Apprenticeship Program links reproductive health and justice issues to environmental justice and health issues in an effort to strengthen cross-movement building |
